Who are you really? When we are connected to our true identity, life becomes so much more exciting and enjoyable. We become free to live a life aligned to our true selves.

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to change you is the greatest accomplishment.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Your identity is a precious gift. It is who you are at the very core.
Personal identity is a complex, ever-changing perspective built on our values and beliefs, influenced by life experiences, nature and nurture. Knowing who we are, at any given time, is a skill and a great strength. It gives us confidence, keeps us in touch with our purpose and what is most important to us in all areas of life.
When we are connected to our true identity, life becomes so much easier and enjoyable. We make better decisions, we have clarity and direction in life and are able to live a life aligned to our true selves.
Who are you, really?
Most of us get lost in the whirlwind of conventional life: education, work, family and retirement. We get pulled from pillar to post, doing what we think we ‘should’ do and not what we ‘want’ to do, mostly because we haven’t had time to even figure out what we ‘want’ even is!
My Life Before
I spent most of my life in one long identity crisis. I wasn't Chinese enough, English enough, intelligent enough, even woman enough! I felt like a failure and imposter, because no matter how much I tried, I always felt like a square peg in a round hole.
The thought of a conventional life that everyone else seemed to be happy with, was to me, stifling, crushing and a little depressing! Like a broken record, “There must be more to life than this!” was on loop at the back of my mind. Something was missing, but not what I expected.
In my thirties a mentor gave me a reality check after me whinging about not achieving the conventional thirty-something goals: marriage, house and kids. “But Sarah, you are not a conventional person.”
I had been so busy trying to fit in and conform in every area of my life, I lost sight or never really knew who I was. I spent so much time comparing myself to others that I needed someone to point out that I was different and different was okay.
I felt liberated. A lightbulb went off.
From that day on, I made a conscious effort to explore and get to know, love and accept the real me, warts and all, my true identity.
The more I discovered, the more joyful, exciting and meaningful my life became. I was no longer needing more, because I had everything I needed.
It was all already inside of me.
